We presented our first analog
drive in 1986, causing great excitement because of its innovative damping
mechanism. At the time the high end audio magazine “DAS OHR”, already decided to
use our turntable in the reference system at their editorial office..Since then,
we have continued to develop and fine tune our drives. We now offer three
turntables: AMAZON Referenz, AMAZON 1 and AMAZON 2.Early on we realized, that a
clean power supply is extremely important for a premium music reproduction.
Therefore, we decided for the cleanest source of all, namely the rechargeable
batteries. Accordingly, we use direct current motors for the drive. It’s in
their nature to significantly better manage noise spectrum than the AC
motors.AMAZON turntables are neither hard coupled nor use metal springs, which
would always force distortion signals onto the drive, because of its own
resonance. To reach a maximum of distortion impassivity, we equip all AMAZON
drives with LRP dampers combined with numerous well-thought out detail solutions
to guarantee a perfect music reprodution.You will find a lot of information on

Chassis:
Das Laufwerk-Chassis ist aus
einem speziellen, füllstoffreichen ICI Werkstoff gefertigt, der sich durch
geringe Resonanzausprägung auszeichnet. Es handelt sich hier um gegossenes
Material, das aufgrund der Zugaben eine hohe innere Dämpfung besitzt. In der
Subchassiskonstruktion werden 3 LRP-Elemente (Low Resilience Polymer) eingesetzt,
die zum einen die Betriebsebene von der Basis entkopplen und andererseits auch
Schwingungen im Material wirksam bedämpfen. Gegenüber Stahlfederkonstruktionen
gibt es weder die unliebsamen Materialresonanzen der Federn noch
Taumelerscheinungen. Die Basisebene finde über drei Edelstahlspikes Verbindung
zur Stellfläche. Das Setup ist schnell und unproblematisch durchzuführen, da
lediglich die waagerechte Aufstellung garantiert werden muß; eine zusätzliche
Abstimmung - z.B. von Federelementen etc - ist nicht notwendig.Plattenteller:
Der 5 kg schwere Plattenteller besteht aus gegossenen Metacrylat, dessen
Materialeigenschaften denen des Vinyls sehr ähnlich sind. In einem aufwendigen
temperaturoptimierten Verfahren werden die Teller auf genaues Maß gedreht und
anschließend oberflächenvergütet. Dieses Verfahren verhindert Spannungen im
Material, die nach unseren Erfahrungen die akustischen Qualitäten deutlich
beeinträchtigen. Duch das plane Tellerprofil und dem Resonanzdiffusor im
Innenradius des Tellers - dieser verhindert die bekannten Material-Resonanzen in
massiven Kunststofftellern im Bereich zwischen 9 kHz und 13 kHz - wird ein
ausgezeichnetes Matching zwischen Vinyl und Plattenteller erreicht.Lager: Der
Rotationsmittelpunkt des Plattentellers ist eine Keramikkugel im Zentrum des
invertiert aufgebauten Lagers. Sowohl die Lagerbuchse als auch die stehende
Achse sind identisch aus mehrfach gehärteten Stahl gefertigt und an den
Kontaktflächen poliert. Minimalste Tolleranzen sorgen für einen perfekten,
geräuschlosen Lauf und lange Lebensdauer. Ein Öl-Reservoir an der Lagerbasis
versorgt alle drehenden Teile mit einem sehr dünnen aber hoch schmierfähigen
Spezialöl. Durch den massiven Aufbau und die spezielle Geomoetrie des Lagers
wird die bei vielen Tellerlagern zu beobachtende Neigung zum Schwingen
wirkungsvoll unterdrückt. Pulsmessungen am Plattenteller zeigen, dass Anregungen
rasch und gleichmäßig ohne Überhöhungen abklingen. Invertierte Lager haben zudem
durch ihren hochliegenden Drehpunkt entscheidende Vorteile, da Kipp- und
Pendelmomente minimiert werden.Antrieb: Das Herzstück des Antriebs ist ein
ruckfrei laufender DC-Motor mit LSC (Linear Speed Controller) Steuerung, der
mechanisch isoliert in das Laufwerk-Chassis integriert ist.ie Stromversorgung
übernimmt ein ausgelagertes Schaltnetzteil, das so großzügig dimensioniert ist,
dass es ca. das 50-fache des eigentlich notwendigen Stromes zu Verfügung stellt.
Links: die gekapselte Motoreinheit mit integrietem LSC und
Geschwindigkeitsumschalter. Über einen selbstspannenden String aus
Duplex-Material wird die Motorkraft vom Pulley auf den Plattenteller übertragen.
Als Drehzahlbereiche stehen 33 rpm und 45 rpm zur Verfügung, der Drehzahlwechsel
erfolgt elektronisch. Darüber hinaus kann die Drehzahl für jede Geschwindigkeit

no resonance. This is about a casted material, which has extremely good internal
damping features, because of the added extras. We also use 6 LRP elements (Low
Resilience Polymer) in our sub-chassis-construction, which decouples the plant
level from the base on the one hand, and fights oscillation in the material on
the other hand. The LRP elements are arranged in the chassis corners and around
the platter bearing. When you compare these to metal spring constructions, there
are no longer obnoxious material resonances of the spring or phenomenon’s of
sway. The setting up is uncomplicated and quick, because you only have to care
about the horizontal adjustment; no additional adjustment necessary, like for
example spring elements etc.Platter:
The platter weights 5kg and is made from casted metacrylat. Its characteristics
are very similar to the vinyl. During a very complex, temperature optimized
process the platter gets drilled to its exact dimensions and afterwards follows
the quenching and tempering of the surface. This process prevents stress in the
material, which would affect the acoustic qualities. By using the plane platter
profile we reach a big matching between vinyl and platter. Furthermore,
resonance diffuser in the inner area of the platter eliminates the well-known
material resonances in massive plastics platter in the area between 9 kHz and 13
kHz.Bearing:
The rotation-center of the platter is a ceramic ball in the middle of the
inversed bearing. Both, bearing bush and vertical axis are made from multiple
hardened steel. Accurate selection and very little tolerance guarantee a perfect,
noiseless operation and long lifetime. All moving parts are supplied with a very
thin but very good greasing special oil from a oil reservoir at the bearing
base. Due to the massive body and the special geometry of the bearing, our
platter bearing doesn’t tend to oscillate like most of the other. That is proven
by objective measurements we made with the pulse measuring process. Pulses at
different areas on the platter are dying out consistent and without
excessiveness. An important advantage of inverted bearings is their high fulcrum,
which minimizes tilting and commuting.Motor-Unit:
The drive unit is totally separated from the running gear. A very thin string
carries the power from the pulley to the platter. You can switch electronically
between 33 rpm and 45 rpm. A LSC-Controller (Linear Speed Controller) monitors
all the time the speed and keeps it absolute constant. These from AMAZON
developed controller are only used in Amazon turntables. In addition, you can
fine-tune each speed separately. Therefore we use padder with a gearbox 1:25.
