comportamento meccanico del driver, riducendo la
distorsione armonica ed evitando i

benchmark by which all high-end speakers are
judged. Five generations of 800 Series have
offered an unbeatable combination of outstanding
performance, the latest audio technology and
stunning aesthetic design. Now the 800 Series
Diamond builds on that legacy, with vastly
improved performance across the board and for
the first time the inclusion of a diamond dome
tweeter in every speaker in the seven- model
range.Bowers & Wilkins is proud to announce the
launch of the 800 Series Diamond. The first new
incarnations of the legendary 800 Series for six
years brings Bowers & Wilkins closer to the
ultimate ambition of its founder, John Bowers -
to create a transducer that truly neither adds
to nor subtracts from the original signal.The
800 Series has long been the world’s premier
high-end loudspeaker range. Designed for the
home, but offering levels of quality such that
the most demanding recording and mastering
studios in the world choose to use them. Abbey
Road Studios in London and Skywalker Sound in
California both use Bowers & Wilkins 800
Series.The already un-rivalled levels of
performance are boosted by the implementation of
Bowers & Wilkins’ famous diamond tweeter
technology throughout the whole range, including
the new 805 Diamond, a speaker that brings
diamond tweeters into the range of more
discerning listeners than ever before.Further
major advances in audio-critical areas provide
the entire range with a dramatic leap forward in
terms of audio quality compared to the outgoing
800 Series. The diamond dome tweeter is now a
quad-magnet design, which increases efficiency
and improves the dynamic range of the top-end
performance. A new surround material aids
dispersion characteristics, and provides a more
stable stereo image while increasing openness.At
the other end of the tonal scale, bass
performance has also improved with the
introduction of a new dual magnet motor system,
which utilises powerful neodymium magnets. This
innovative design improves the linearity of the
bass drivers’ performance, therefore reducing
harmonic distortion.Serious work has also gone
into the small details that combine to make a
loudspeaker special. New Bowers &
Wilkins-designed oxygen-free-copper speaker
terminals and links ensure the signal quality
into the speaker is the best possible. All
models’ crossovers feature a new design of
capacitor using a unique silver, gold and oil
construction. This component, chosen
subjectively by Bowers & Wilkins engineers, in
itself provides a dramatic increase in sound
quality.Elsewhere, proprietary Bowers & Wilkins
technologies such as Kevlar® FSTTM mid-range
drivers, NautilusTM tube-loaded tweeters, Matrix

Serie 800
La serie 800 di Bower&Wilkins, pur conservando,
per grandi linee, la stessa cifra stilistica della collezione precedente (la
Nautilus 800), vanta numerose e significative differenze.Non si tratta, quindi,
di un semplice restyling, ma di una vera metamorfosi che ha notevolmente
migliorato ciò che era già quasi perfetto. La nuova serie 800 è destinata a
sancire un nuovo riferimento riguardo alla qualità nella riproduzione sonora. Le
prestazioni sono assolute, e fanno di questi diffusori degli oggetti con i quali
poter ascoltare musica o godere di colonne sonore, come mai si era “sentito”
prima: a buon intenditor!
Top
di gamma della storica serie 800, adotta un avanzatissimo tweeter in diamante,
che permette un'estensione in frequenza, una precisione ai transienti ed un
controllo delle risonanze eccellenti. Il driver dei medi è realizato con una
membrana in kevlar (altro materiale di tradizione B&W, di brevetto DuPont,
rigido e leggero) priva di sospensione (tecnologia FST). La gamma bassa è

elegantly curved cabinet of the top-of-the-range 800D stands on a heavy cast
aluminium plinth that also houses the substantial crossover.
The twin 250mm (10 in) diameter Rohacell® sandwich cone woofers have a radiating
area equivalent to a single 380mm (15 in) driver and can deliver prodigious
amounts of bass when called upon to do so, even in large listening rooms. Bass
output is reinforced by a down-firing Flowport™ and is configured to have a taut
characteristic, enabling the 800D to work optimally in a wide range of ‘real
world’ rooms and acoustics.Thanks to the geometry of the Marlan® midrange 'head' enclosure and the separate
tweeter on top, the 800D can project an uncannily realistic and
three-dimensional image that is more stable with changes in listener position
than more conventionally shaped speakers.Powerful it may be, but the 800D can also portray the finest nuances from the
recording. So good is it at revealing detail that top recording engineers have

technical looking piece of furniture than the larger 'headed' models.
Here the FST™ midrange driver is housed in its own isolated section of the
beautifully curved, Matrix™-braced main cabinet, which is kept as narrow as
possible in order to optimise the dispersion of sound.In order to have a similar
bass output capability to the wider 802D, the 803D uses three 180mm (7 in)
Rohacell® cone bass drivers, this time supplemented by a front-firing Flowport™.
Like all of our dedicated bass-only drivers, the basic rigidity of the radiating
area is enhanced by our novel 'mushroom' construction, a girder-like component

803S is the largest model to feature our aluminium dome tweeter, which has been
enhanced with a new design of surround that operates better in unison with the
dome. It has allowed the driver's low-end response to be extended in order to

804S is a more compact version of the 803S. Exactly the same midrange and
tweeter configuration is used, but bass is supplied by two smaller 165mm (6.5
in) diameter Rohacell® cone drivers. These operate into a smaller, narrower
Matrix™-braced cabinet, making this model ideal for the medium size listening
room – elegant and unobtrusive. Many of the features that go to making the 800
Series models so exceptional are hidden away inside the system. Silver coating
the magnet pole in the tweeter helps extend its high-end response. The midrange

location, the DS8S has been designed to operate as either a monopole or dipole
design. For use at the side of a room, the diffuse dipole mode gives a more
cinematic feel, yet at the rear of a room, the direct monopole mode gives better
directional information.
In monopole mode, the DS8S is a 2-way system, using a 180mm (7 in) Kevlar® cone
bass/midrange driver and 25mm (1 in) tube-loaded aluminium dome tweeter mounted
on the front of the cabinet. In dipole mode, the front tweeter is switched off

The
SCMS features essentially the same driver complement as the 805S. It's a 2-way
system with a Kevlar® cone bass/midrange driver and aluminium dome tweeter. Here,
though, the cabinet is much shallower so that it can be mounted on-wall with the
minimum of intrusion into the living space. The system is also balanced for its
intended on-wall application, taking into account the bass reinforcement from
the rear wall. The system comes complete with a custom wall bracket that allows
angular adjustment in both horizontal and vertical planes. This allows the
speaker to be angled towards the listeners or, if preferred for a more diffuse
surround sound field, away from the listening area.The SCMS is ideal for use as
a stereo front speaker or as a rear surround. To give a more discreet aspect
when the speaker is mounted high on the wall for surround applications, the
tube-loaded tweeter has been brought into the main cabinet, rather than being

Dotato di un tweeter Nautilus da 2,5 cm con tubo di accordo posteriore, e di 2

DS6 S3 is a versatile and compact on-wall surround speaker that is adaptable to
a wide range of home theatre applications.Surround speakers generally fall into
two main types – those that one might describe as 'normal' speakers - so-called
monopoles, where the sound comes from a set of drive units mounted on the front
of the enclosure - and those that give a more diffuse sound field, such as
dipoles. Each type has its advantages. This enables good location of side and
rear images. Conversely, most films are originally balanced for cinemas, where a
large number of speakers spread around the auditorium are used to create the
surround sound field. With more surround speakers than discrete channels of
information, a less precise image is created that gives an all-enveloping effect.
Dipoles, rather than monopoles are better at recreating this type of sound field
in the home, while using fewer speakers to do it. Dipoles do not image as
precisely as monopoles, but they can make it easier to balance the whole system
for a larger listening area. The DS6 S3 offers a choice of both monopole and
dipole operation, so you may choose whichever type of operation best suits the
conditions of the listening room, the size of audience and the type of programme

smaller of the two floor-standers in the Series and is a 2-way system. Bass
frequencies are produced by both cone drivers operating in parallel. To maintain
a better vertical dispersion of sound, the lower driver is progressively
attenuated above 150Hz to leave the upper Kevlar® cone driver operating alone
through the midrange.Mounting the tweeter in its own housing on top of the
cabinet maintains a more even dispersion for better stability of the
three-dimensional sound image, even when sitting away from the centre line
between the speakers. The ability to time align the tweeter with the bass/midrange

Diffusori Serie CT800
Per venire incontro alle più ambiziose richieste in
fatto di riproduzione di colonne sonore, la B&W introduce una nuova serie di
diffusori ad alta efficienza direttamente derivati dalla nuova serie ‘800. Si
chiamano CT800 e sono in grado di soddisfare le specifiche esigenze del mercato
cinema e home theater top-class. La filosofia costruttiva e le tecnologie
impiegate sono quelle già messe in campo nella serie ’800, pur con i dovuti
distinguo necessari in diffusori esteticamente più compatti e ad alta efficienza
(93dB spl). La famosa unità medio-alti Nautilus, per esempio, è stata
completamente riprogettata ed è, nella serie CT800, una sfera in alluminio
orientabile verso l’ascoltatore. In tale unità, sono presenti il leggendario
Mid-Range FST da 15 cm e il Tweeter Nautilus da 3,2 cm, con un originalissimo
condotto di carico compatto ed equivalente al lungo tubo presente nella serie
’800. Lo sviluppo di questa particolare unità medio-alti è stata frutto di
lunghi studi e ricerche in casa B&W, tesi anche ad aumentare notevolmente
l’efficienza globale del sistema, senza perdere, però, mai di vista la qualità
nella riproduzione che è il basamento cardine della filosofia del costruttore
inglese. Per la sezione bassi, si sono adottati woofer in Rohacell mentre nei
cross-over sono presenti capacità della Mundorf, specificatamente costruiti su
specifiche B&W. Il sistema è basato su un cross-over elettronico, il CT8 XO,
fornito a corredo con ogni diffusore, e dal quale è possibile effettuare tutte
le operazioni di tuning del sistema. Per il loro funzionamento, i diffusori
della serie CT800 hanno bisogno di una coppia di finali mono o un finale stereo
per ogni dffusore.
Le casse della serie CT sono tutti piuttosto imponenti nelle dimensioni, e sono
destinate da una parte al mercato amatoriale di alto livello, che pretende suoni
ed emozioni uguali se non superiori a quelli di una sala cinematografica, e
dall’altra alle applicazioni professionali, dove siano richiesti requisiti
qualitativi di livello assoluto.Nella serie Custom Theater 800 si trova un diffusore per canale frontale, il CT8
LR da tre vie in cassa chiusa con doppio woofer da 25 cm e unità medio-alti
orientabile, un canale centrale, il CT8 CC, del tutto simile ai precedenti CT8

Il “Soundbar”, è particolare
tipo di acustica che racchiude tutte le acustiche (ed i canali) di un sistema
surround in un unico chassis. Il B&W Panorama è un “soundbar” costituito di un
telaio di alluminio e acciaio nero lucidato a specchio, sviluppato in larghezza

Definire Zeppelin una “semplice” innovazione tecnica appare riduttivo e svilente
del prodotto, siamo infatti di fronte a un vero e proprio miracolo
tecnico/stilistico, in cui ogni particolare è stato studiato sinergicamente
dagli ingegneri e dai designer in modo da poter contemplare in un unico prodotto
il massimo ottenibile sotto ogni aspetto. Zeppelin ha uno chassis completamente
in alluminio, nel quale sono contenuti ben 5 altoparlanti e 3 amplificatori,
oltre alle sezioni di alimentazione switching ad alta efficienza e alla logica
di controllo. Quest’ultima basata sull’uso di un complesso DSP (Digital Signal
Processor) ottimizza in ogni istante secondo il volume di ascolto e il programma
musicale le impostazioni dei 3 amplificatori incorporati. Amplificatori da 1X50W
quello dedicato al subwoofer e da 2X25W quelli per i midrange e tweeter per una
potenza complessiva “quasi” senza confini. Gli altoparlanti, derivati dalla
enorme esperienza maturata dalla casa inglese e progettati/costruiti
espressamente per Zeppelin. Un subwoofer da 12,5 cm in kevlar, 2 mid-range da 9
cm realizzati utilizzando dei coni in fibra di vetro e cellulosa, e 2 tweeter
con cupola in alluminio da 2,5 cm che sfruttano la stessa tecnologia Nautilus
messa in campo nelle migliori realizzazioni B&W. Un aspetto molto importante,
poi, è la forma –invisibile visto che è celata dalla griglia nera- del pannello
frontale dove sono montati tutti gli altoparlanti, modellata con l’utilizzo di
sofisticate apparecchiature computerizzate, e che scongiura qualsiasi
riflessione o cancellazione delle onde acustiche, che sempre avvengono nel caso
–assai diffuso- di pannelli piani con spigoli vivi o arrotondati solo per motivi
estetici e non funzionali. Modellati sono anche i due scarichi posteriori per i
tubi di accordo in bass-reflex del subwoofer, che provvedono a maggiorare
l’emissione in bassa frequenza ma senza renderla troppo presente o fuori
sincronismo rispetto al resto dell’emissione. Anche la forma dello Zeppelin in
quanto tale è ottimizzata al computer, in modo da poter diffondere al meglio le
onde sonore da una parte, e assorbire completamente le vibrazioni generate dal
subwoofer dall’altra che, non dimentichiamoci, emette una notevole pressione
