VINILI 180 GRAMMI LP

Vinyl 180 gram  About The Cutting Of LP’s In response to many requests over the years since the release of Eric Bibb’s breakthrough album "Spirit & The Blues " we are now pleased to make this and also "Good Stuff " available on special 45 rpm double LP’s. Since most complete CD's are too long to be accommodated on a regular LP (33 rpm) it was necessary to produce a double LP, which in turn meant that advantage could be taken of the use of 45rpm. The main advantages of this is that it is possible to increase the cutting level thus reducing, in relative terms, the noise of the record. In addition the increased speed of rotation of the record gives improved high-frequency performance which is of particularly significance especially in the later parts of the record as the circumference progressively reduces. We would also like to draw attention to the following: A cutting lathe requires two signals, one feeding the cutter head and the other which gives information in advance to enable the grooves to be packed in the best possible way without impinging on adjacent grooves.  For this purpose a special tape recorder is required with one "preview" head for the spacing of the grooves and one audio head which feeds the cutter.Between the heads the tape makes a special loop which provides the required delay. Because these very special tape recorders are becoming increasingly rare, many cutting studios have resorted to incorporating a digital delay in the signal path in order to use an ordinary tape recorder. This means that the audio signal in the record-groove has first been A / D converted, i.e. digitalized, then digitally delayed then D/A converted back to analogue. Such a vinyl record is therefore not truly analogue. Needless to say all Opus3 LP’s, are of course mastered in the old authentic way and are thus analogue all the way.

System Setup Tools Frequency Sweep and Burn-In Record 2

CARDAS                      Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Type: System Setup Tools Item No.: CR FSR  Artist: Mastered by Stan Ricker  Title: Cardas Frequency Sweep and Burn-In Record 2 Recorded: The Cardas Frequency Sweep and Burn-in Record is a unique tuning tool for system set-up, diagnostics and maintenance. It was produced by George Cardas and mastered by Stan Ricker. The ³Sweeper², in addition to the standard tones, includes relative and absolute polarity checks, vocal channel identification and frequency sweeps that ultrasonically clean the cartridge stylus and degauss the entire system. And, locked, pink noise grooves that repeat endlessly, blank plateaus, even a sync label to check platter speed. All on a 180 gram pressing with a smiling Stan cover. Side 1 • Sweeper • 45 rpm (also works @ 33 1/3rd rpm). Note: This is three cuts, interleaved with smooth sections, to be played at 45 rpm. Track 1. Short Sweeps, short version (52 seconds) Lock-out Track 2. Short Sweeps, long version (4 minutes 46 seconds) Lock-out Track 3. “I’ve Got a Feeling I’m Falling” Artists: Tom Loncaric Band. Music Thomas Waller and Harry Link. Publisher: Ann Rachel Music. (2 minutes 29 seconds) Lock-out Track 4. 1K tone (740.46Hz tone @ 33 1/3rd rpm) Lead-out spiral and final tie-off Side 2 • Burn-In • 33 1/3 rpm. Note: Burn-in is mastered at two different speeds and designed to be played at 33 1/3 rpm. The first section, from the outside edge to the lock-out groove (the stylus will stay in the groove until lifted out), is mastered at 16 2/3 rpm. Tracks 2, 3 and 4 are mastered at 22 1/2 rpm. Track 1a. Voice announcement by George Cardas, "Greetings from the left channel" Spiral Track 1b. Voice announcement by George Cardas, "From the right channel" Spiral Track 1c. Voice announcement by George Cardas, "From both channels" Note: This is lateral modulation (mono, in phase).Spiral  Track 1d. "In polarity" Both channels in positive polarity Spiral Track 1e. "Out of polarity" Both channels in reversed or negative polarity Spiral Track 1f. 13 strikes on a high "B-flat" on a piano Note: The last of the 3 strings are brought into zero-beat, dead-on tuning. Listen for the impact of hammer on string, quickly followed by room reflections mingling with one another, followed by a keener sense of the piano sound itself, as the ring-out time of the string exceeds that of the reverb time of the room. Spiral Track 1g. Hollow sticks, of various lengths and diameters, being struck, one on another. Note: It is recorded in a very reverberant, spacious environment. The spatial, impact and directional cues will not sound correct if the polarity is wrong. Lock-out. Note: The remainder of this side is cut at 22.5 rpm and consists of three wide bands of pink noise, separated by two blank, 1/2 inch wide plateaus. The plateaus are protected by two blank grooves on each side, to keep the stylus from sliding into the pink noise. The three wide bands are groups of individually locked grooves of mono pink noise, recorded at "0" dB, relative to NAB standard level. These are continuous grooves and the stylus will stay in a groove until it is lifted out. This 180 gram pressing is made of specially formulated hard vinyl. Track 2. 20 locked grooves, lateral modulation (mono) 1/2” wide, unmodulated plateau Track 3. 32 locked grooves, vertical modulation (out-of phase) 1/2” wide, unmodulated plateau Track 4. 20 locked grooves, lateral modulation (mono) Track 5. 26 unmodulated grooves Note: These unmodulated grooves facilitate electro-forming (matrix) operations and help vinyl flow in the record press, for a quieter, flatter disk. Lead-out spiral and final tie-off Pressing: 180 gram, specially formulated hard vinyl Mastering Lathe: Neuman VMS 66 latheCutter Head: Helium cooled, Neuman SX-74Controller: A Sontec Compudisk computerMotor: Technics 5-speed direct drive Console and cutter head electronics: Keith O. Johnson General Suggestions for Use by George Cardas The Cardas Frequency Sweep and Burn-In Record is a set of tools that audiophiles have requested over the years. The benefits and uses of the "Sweeper" vary because turn tables and systems differ, as does the knowledge and tools of the end user. The most important tools on this record are the Side 1 Frequency Sweeps. These are the degaussing tracks 1 and 2. Simply play one of these tracks through your system at a low, normal level and it will degauss the cartridge and the rest of the system, plus clean the stylus ultrasonically. When played, the tracks progress from low frequencies at a high relative amplitude, to high frequencies (35 k+ if played at 45 rpm) at a low level. This is a complete degaussing process and an ultrasonic cleaning of the stylus at the same time. You may hear clicks and pops in the high frequency section after use. This is caused by the accumulation of junk which has fallen off the stylus during ultrasonic cleaning. Clean the record to remove the debris. This is the most efficient and cheapest way I know to degauss your cartridge and system. Basically, it makes a flux buster obsolete. How often you use the Frequency sweeps is something you have to determine for yourself. The build up of residual stress in a system, is system dependent. Some parts require more frequent degaussing than others. For instance, permeable parts require more frequent degaussing than non permeable parts. An iron core cartridge will need more attention than ruby cored cartridge. Speakers with cored inductors acquire more stress than those with air core inductors. There should be an audible difference after you play the Frequency Sweeps. I run the sweeper at least once a week, it really works! The sweeps are also useful as room tuning tools for setting up wall and ceiling treatments. Room reflection points, as well as other anomalies in the system, cause the image to shift with rising frequency. Simply sit in the hot spot and play the sweep at a low level. The image should be centered and stable in a well focused room. You can ignore changes in volume which are caused by comb filtering. Hard reflection points in the room can cause a shifting in focus, so padding these points will help stabilize the image. Hold a piece of foam rubber at arms length and block the sound from suspected reflecting points. When you think you have located the trouble spots, cover them with suitable damping materials. An interesting speaker set-up trick is to listen to the low frequency, out of phase tones while sitting in the listening position. The note should cancel completely if speakers are positioned symmetrically. Try both tones and pick the one that works best for your room. Playing this tone while in the null point, at the hot spot, may also allow you to pick out strange noises and rattles in the system. Sorting out the exact cause of these anomalies is up to you. The higher frequency tones must be measured in order to be compared. You can use these if you have setup machines and other ways of measuring. They are good for crosstalk type azimuth adjustments. Start by listening to or measuring the channel opposite the one being played and adjust it to minimum level. Then use any other test that needs relatively even tones of different frequency, but of the same level. Actual levels are approximate, but very even with respect to one another. If you have an oscilloscope, a triangle wave should have straight sides if all is right. The voice announcements (Tracks 1a, 1b, 1c and 1d at the beginning of Side 2) are, again, for determining proper channels and centering the sound. They were recorded in a small booth and can be compared with the spatial qualities of Tracks 1f and 1g. The continuous pink noise grooves at the end of Side 2 (Tracks 2, 3 and 4) are unique. They are concentric groves, not normal spirals. The stylus will stay in the grove until lifted out. I use these continuous grooves with discretion, to break in a new cartridge, but only after it is properly set-up. Part of this break-in process is the adjustment of the final azimuth. I can’t determine the length of break in time for your system, but I feel an hour would be close to the mark. Save your cartridge for music! If all adjustments on the arm are correct and the table is perfectly level, the arm should track very slowly inward on the smooth sections of Side 2. This is an "after proper adjustment" test! It is not a way to adjust the tone arm. If the system is out of relative phase, you will have to determine where one channel is reversed. It will often be one of the speaker connections or one of the cartridge connections. Usually the offending connection can be found by visual inspection. If the output of the out of phase, locked grooves (Side 2, Track 3) are combined, they should null. This can be used as an azimuth check. The 1/2" wide, Unmodulated Plateaus on Side 2 are for checking cartridge alignment and tone arm bias. On level tables, properly adjusted arms will track slowly inward on the Plateau. The Sync Label is used to determine the rotational speed of the platter. The label has four concentric rings of short, white lines to measure both 33.333 and 45 RPM. One set is for 60 cycle alternating current in the U.S. and the second set is for international, 50 cycle use. If you view the label under a standard incandescent or florescent lamp, the stroboscopic effect of the light will make the appropriate lines on the label appear to stand still when the speed is correct.

Marshal Royal & Joe Wilder, with Mostly Ellington This album, MOSTLY ELLINGTON (recorded in 1990), unites Joe Wilder andMarshall Royal in concert for the only time they ever played together. Their soaring, beautiful front line horn tandem is augmented by a world class trio: Mike Wofford on piano; Bob Magnusson on bass; and Roy McCurdy on drums. The line up of songs here featured each horn player in his own quartet setting for one number along with a series of jazz chestnuts penned by Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Recorded direct-to-two-track, this "on location" album carries stunning musical immediacy and sonic vibrancy.

OPUS"RAINBOW PEOPLE" ( Eric Bibb )     Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

For all of you who have been following my music, “Rainbow People” will give you an idea of how far I’ve come on my musical journey. For me, musical ideas are like children; for those of you who are hearing me for the first time, you might want to have a listen to some of my recent work to hear how the children of the Rainbow People have grown.Listening to “Rainbow People” so many years after it was recorded evokes a whole rainbow of feelings in me! More than 30 years later, I realize that what I was musically passionate about in 1977 still fascinates me today. Listening to my fledgling trips down the blues path makes me smile with the knowledge that there’s no substitute for putting in your time. The fact is, 30 years ago I wanted to sing and play like I do today. It sure has been a journey! My love of world music sounds and jazz found expression in “Catalina Estimada” and “Encuentro en la Estacion”. Writing for strings has been an interest since my years at the High School of Music & Art (seems like a lifetime ago!) and I can clearly hear the influence of some of my favorite musicians: Milton Nasciamento and A.C. Jobim with Claus Ogerman. I’m still in contact with some of the friends on “Rainbow People” today. Cyndee Peters and I still perform, write and philosophize together. Rudy Smith (the Trinidadian steel pan virtuoso) is someone I’d love to record with again. That goes for saxophonist Ed Epstein, too. Stockholm was always, and still is, a Mecca for musicians from all over the world with adventurous spirits.Speaking of adventurous spirits, recording engineer Jan-Eric Persson has been my friend and supporter since our first meeting 32 years ago. His love of the true sound of voices and acoustic instruments has been a tremendous blessing throughout my career. We continue to work together. For all of you who have been following my music, “Rainbow People” will give you an idea of how far I’ve come on my musical journey. For me, musical ideas are like children; for those of you who are hearing me for the first time, you might want to have a listen to some of my recent work to hear how the children of the Rainbow People have grown.

A must! - Eric Bibb's acoustic blues/gospel goes straight  to the heart. Calmly and dexterously Eric Bibb, together with the superlative group Needed Time, give listeners 14 good reasons to continue wandering in Lonesome Valley (track 1. on CD 19401)Since Eric Bibb's breakthrough with the Opus 3 recording "Spirit & The Blues" in Autumn of 1994, a great deal has happened in Eric's life. In Spring of 1996 he was an outstanding success at the London Blues Festival (April) and later he was equally well received in Canada at the Vancouver Folk & BluesFestival (August). On both occasions the plaudits were shared by slide guitarist Göran Wennerbrandtwho, as well as playing on both of the CDs, also produced this release.  On the new album we have in general the same musicians who contributed to the success of  "Spirit & The Blues," including the gospel quartet The Deacons.  One of the main features of this new album is that Eric has written ten of the fourteen songs himself, with credits shared on three of the others. The remaining instrumental Blacksmith Island was written by the band Needed Time. In style the album has retained the musical breadth of "Spirit & The Blues" while being a little more "bluesy" in feeling. Also included are the radio singles Shingle By Shingle and Good Stuff.

About him Eric has gathered a large number of musicians from rock, folk and blues and last but not least, "The Deacons" - a gospel quartet from the USA which was actually formed while this recording was being made! "RECORD TO DIE FOR" AWARD IN STEREOPHILE! "I want Jesus to Walk with Me", a traditional gospel song adapted by Eric Bibb, is my favourite cut on this wonderfully tactile disc. This song casts a deep, peaceful spell on me in an almost impossibly human way." "The compelling", moving, shockingly present recording is always a joy to listen to, effortlessly establishing that certain atmosphere that (until now) seemed only within the provenance of tubed electronics. Bibb, who works with the much admired gospel singer Cyndee Peters (to whose appearance on Opus 3's TEST CD 4.1 I so often refer), does a superb job here: A TRUE RECORDING TO DIE FOR. "Another delightful surprise from Sweden! The blindfolded listener would be unlikely to guess; like Bibb himself this music's orgins are largely African-American." "If you are partial to music made by people rather than machines and enjoy gospel and acoustic blues in particular, you'll almost certainly love Spirit and The Blues. Bibb is an excellent singer and a capable guitarist, his accompanying musicians and singers are first-class, and the recording quality is absolutely superb." We are pleased to present, Just Like Love, the latest  Opus 3 recording of Eric Bibb.Since Eric´s breakthrough album on Opus 3, Spirit & The Blues in 1994, and the highly acclaimed follow up album Good Stuff, Sunday Times album of the year 1997 (UK) he has also made two studio CD´s and a live recording on other labelsIn addition to extensive tours throughout England, Germany Ireland and the rest of Europe, Eric has in recent years extended his tours to include USA and Canada where his artistry and status as a performer has now established him in the same league as Taj Mahal and Keb Mo – one reviewer going so far as to suggest that they ought to make an album together! ”Just Like Love” differs somewhat from Eric´s earlier Opus 3 recordings in that it has the warmer, more intimate feel of the ”singer songwriter” approach delicately augmented by many of thegreat musicians of the ”Needed Time” band. The fact that Eric played a major role in writing most of the tracks, apart from a couple of his personal favourite traditionals, has no doubt played a major role in the feeling of the album.. While all of the recordings are very new, having been produced this year, 2000, the inimitable analogue and ”unplugged” Opus 3 recording philosophy remains unchanged!

Quote from HiFi+, UK- "A guitar is a guitar is a guitar? Wrong-o! Each instrument has its own sound and its own soul. Seventeen (!) different types of guitars in a studio, up to five guitars a track, 45 days of recording, mixing and mastering – and every single note is worth the time and effort!Listen two, three times, and you will realize that Bert "East" Östlund is a superb musician who really works miracles. A masterpiece!"The breadth and range of styles, techniques and genre of Pathfinder makes it a unique guitar album in the sense that it cannot be labelled……..though perhaps ‘the complete guitar album’ could be considered even though this was not the original aim.Bert “East” Östlund’s musical journey takes us not only to Detroit and Nashville in the USA and Newcastle in England but also to Rio and Paris! The music has all been composed and arranged by ‘East’ himself with music of outstanding quality and featuring his considerable collection of guitars both acoustic and electric and where the Telecaster and Strat play leading roles. It was in 1960 on a Spanish guitar, borrowed from a neighbour, that the then 13-year old Bert “East” Östlund's interest in music was aroused. From this time on the guitar has been an inseparable friend and played an increasingly important part in his life. Four years later, in 1964, he received a telephone call inviting him to play with a wellknown pop group on a six-month tour of Finland. This he accepted, though there was a problem. He had neither an electric guitar nor amplifier. The bands manager, who had been given the task of solving the problem, awakened him in his hotel room, hung a Fender Stratocaster around his neck and put an amplifier at his bedside. The musical journey had begun. In the seventies he began writing and arranging music for many artists. He was much in demand and his music was played and in the charts worldwide. In the eighties he formed the group “7:e himlen” (7th Heaven), which toured and released several records. He also released two solo LP's under the name Ensamma Vargen (Lone Wolf) on which he had written both text and music.1990 saw Bert widening the scope of his activities by the building of his own recording studio in which he could function as musician, producer and sound-engineer.Bert, under the name of East, released in 2003 the CD “Let the Guitar Flow” (RRCD110 Riverside Records). An instrumental CD of his own guitar based compositions, which was well received particularly by the English guitar press. Bert is currently very much in demand as a guitarist, pianist and as in this production composer and arranger.

In what we believe is a very harmonic and enjoyable mix we give you a selection from our latest albums of music rangeing from Blues,(sometimes with just a spice of
Rock!), Jazz, World Music and Classical. As technology advances and improves so will the Opus 3 showcase to include and illustrate new and stimulating possibilities made available on SACD's and pure DSD.In what we believe is a very harmonic and enjoyable mix we give you a selection from our latest albums of music rangeing from Blues,(sometimes with just a spice of
Rock!), Jazz, World Music and Classical. In common with our previous Test CD's/Showcase albums, we include in depth liner notes and comments on all of the tracks..........but with a significant difference. Most of the tracks on this album were recorded and mixed not only in stereo, but also in real surround and we therefore give precisely detailed information relating to this, i.e.whether in a Blues or Jazz Club, Church or Concert Hall etc. Well recorded surround sound has really advanced the HiFi experience towards its ultimate goal which is to create the feeling of being there live with the musicians.Though we would stress that you are not 'playing in the band' ..........you are instead in a much better listening position...............in the front row!

In this the fourth test record, the three basic concepts of Depth of Image, Timbre and Dynamics have been linked together as a basis for evaluation of HiFi equipment. - CD 19420. Also available on vinyl and due to the much shorter time possible on an LP, that version contains 11 of the 17 tracks of the SACD version - LP9200It looks like a CD. It plays on all your CD players. But this hybrid Super Audio CD (SACD) is much, much more. Created by Sony and Philips ñ the people who invented the CD ñ this is actually a two-layer disc. And both layers pack an incredible story. The next generation in music reproduction From the earliest digital recordings and 16-bit Compact Disc on up to even the latest 24-bit recordings, digital audio has always used multi-bit PCM technology. Until now. Now there is Direct Stream Digital recording. A one bit system that´s fundamentally different. Thanks to an amazing 2,822,400 samples per second, you get audio performance that no other format can deliver. Where CD frequency response extends to 20,000 Hz, DSD technology can theoretically reach 100,000 Hz. Where CD has a dynamic range of 96 dB, DSD recording can achieve 120 dB across the entire audible range. Thanks to DSD technology, the SACD difference is breathtaking. If you care passionately about music, then SACD will inflame that passion as never before. Not just a CD, a better CD Even the SACD´s 16-bit layer can sound better, if it´s based on a Direct Stream Digital or an analogue studio master. The Super Bit Mapping Direct process can be used to downconvert to the 16-bit CD format, which enables you to hear more of the original master. So by all means, enjoy this disc on a standard CD player. But for an unforgettable audio experience, you´ve really got to hear it on a new Super Audio CD player.

This a tribute and thanks from us to the groups, artists, musicians and writers who kept us sitting in front of our portable gramophones in our teenage-rooms breathlessly listening to the latest vinyl from England and USA"The production and recording of this album is unique in the sense that it combines the delicate balance between the rather special sounds achieved during the period from 1954 - 1963 while at the same time taking advantage of contemporary recording techniques. In order to achieve this we have, as far as possible, used the original instruments for example the Hammond Chord organ in the tracks where Johnny & the Hurricanes was the aim, and a Fender Stratocaster from 1962 with a Vox AC-30 original Amp from 1964 for the Shadows tracks. Also a UniVox organ from the 50´s where the Tornados song "Telstar" * was the inspiration. The same philosophy applied to the microphones where we used RCA’s old classic ribbon microphone 44A from 1934 for all of the saxophones and also as "ambience" for the drums, STC 4038 for many guitars together with a couple of valve microphones, all from the 50´s.However all of the efforts to achieve authenticity would have been to no avail without the creativity and superb musicianship of Bert Östlund. Not only has he written and composed all of the songs capturing the spirit of the era, but also made all of the arrangements as well as playing the guitars and keyboards, including the piano with thumb-tacks!In addition to the bass and drums, we also have the renowned Pär Westling on Tenor and Baritone saxes on six of the tracks, authentic strings on two and vocals on further two tracks.*This track is dedicated to the Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang: "The Fuglesang Song"

Quote from Svenska Dagbladet "The opening bars remind us of Ry Cooder's version of Dark End of the Street. Soon the melody undergoes a change, but with the same very rich and lyrical slide-tone, the same richly charged beauty. Also Peder af Ugglas moves equally unerringly and tastefully between the various styles. He develops a blues-saturated tonal picture in Wino's Dance without slide. With the electric slide, smartly used wah wah-pedal and heavy organ-chords he performs a freely flowing blues in Central South. Otherwise he moves freely between delta-blues and Gospel, occasionally spiced with New Orleans. But af Ugglas guitar playing puts music at the centre. The tone is warm and full, sometimes rich, his solos precisely expressive, and the Spanish guitar in Passion is so soft and passionate that time stands still. Then the supreme moment is near." A masterpiece!"The breadth and range of styles, techniques and genre of Pathfinder makes it a unique guitar album in the sense that it cannot be labelled……..though perhaps ‘the complete guitar album’ could be considered even though this was not the original aim.Bert “East” Östlund’s musical journey takes us not only to Detroit and Nashville in the USA and Newcastle in England but also to Rio and Paris!

When I was a child I would be awakened at weekends to the sound of my mother playing her favourite recordings of such artists as Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald. I remember that I also liked this music and these memories and melodies have become an intrinsic part of my being. Music, which I love and grew up with. It is therefore not surprising that when the time came to record last summer, it was these songs which were chosen. Music, which has been part of me as long as I can remember. Many people are often reluctant to play standards because they have been played so many times and ways before. But good music has it's own will and is able to exist on it's own merits and speaks for itself. Music is the stuff of which dreams are weaved, fulfilling a need or inner longing to touch and express feelings. Music can achieve this in its own right without the need for outside influences. On meeting Gösta and the idea of making a record evolved. We shared a mutual enthusiasm resulting in the selection of some of the older songs from The American Songbook. It was also a privilege and a pleasure to play together with such talented musicians as Jocke, Christian and Ola.I truly hope you'll enjoy this record

OPUS"Room in the Clouds  " ( David Wilczewski)   Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

reminiscent of the early Vital Information recordings that Dave participated in as a writer/player, but the music on Room in the Clouds unfolds slowly, the musicians clearly allowing the music to lead them from moment to moment without imposing their ”playing ability” onto the music. Dave and I go back to high school days in the early 1970s when we played together in a big band in the Boston area of the USA. Dave played tenor and soprano saxes in the original lineup of my group Vital Information. Over the course of six years('83–'88) Dave composed many strong tunes for our first four albums. The first two Vital Information albums have recently been released on CD. As I listened to them for the first time in years, I was taken by how hip and fresh Dave's contributions still sound. His playing and writing has aged well.Dave's writing, for Vital Information and for his latest project Room in the Clouds, sounds original, current and timeless. He has a unique writing style that is ”now” without being trendy or in danger of sounding outdated in a couple of years. The music is open, challenging, fun to play and thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. In my opinion other player/composers that have been similarly successful in their writing are musicians like Don Grolnick, Mike Mainieri, and Keith Jarrett.DaveWilczewski continues to evolve as one of today's most imaginative composers and exceptional saxophone soloists. His distinctive recording, Room in the Clouds, will resonate with fans of the contemporary music scene and undoubtedly stand the test of time.

OPUS"Round' Midnight "( Johan Dielemans Trio )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Johan Dielemans Trio is a jazz trio which was formed quite recently - but by veteran musicians! Johan, the groups leader and drummer, has collaborated a great deal with Monica Zetterlund, but also Monica Borrfors, Knud Jörgensen and the Stockholm jazz Orchestra. Pianist Alvaro Is, who was born in Spain but settled in Sweden in 1966, collaborated, for example with Red Mitchell. On this recording we hear a number of standards - rather in the ballad line and lyrical interpretations - like: Love for Sale, Come Rain or Come Shine, Humph, Round' Midnight, Like Someone in Love, etc. Olle Steinholtz on bass. "A collection of succulent standards by the Swedish Dieleman's Trio, this disc is surprisingly good. Dielemans plays with time, rolling around the drum kit at a very relaxed tempo. He has the perfect piano partner in the Spanish born, Berklee trained, Swedish resident Alvaro Is! Dielemans has a nice ringing ride cymbal and a crisp, responsive snare. Try a little tenderness is soft, slow and sparse. Alvaro touches the ivories oh so tenderly. My favourite piece is the sentimental ballad, My One and Only Love. The tiny little cymbal rolls and long bass lines provide a backdrop for Is's curly piano runs, which roll like waves down the keyboard before breaking at the bottom end. Some of the best standard works I've ever heard." (C a d e n c e)

OPUS"Live at the Pawnshop  "(Eva Taylor)  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

It was certainly a magic night at the Pawnshop (Stampen) in March, 1976 when a young lady of 81 completely captured and entranced the audience with her stage presence and vibrant personality. Her communication with the musicians and audience combined to elevate her artistry beyond the aural level to include that indefinable ingredient….. atmosphere. This atmosphere was retrieved from our vaults from 31 years ago and like a good wine has aged well as lovers of jazz from the twenties will appreciate. Eva Taylor is a direct link with the great era of jazz when she was singing with the Clarence Williams Blue Five and also with Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet who were coming to their peak as influential jazz geniuses in the mid twenties. The band which perfectly complements her artistry is Maggie’s Blue Five and includes Tomas Örnberg on clarinet & sopranosaxophone and Bent Persson, trumpet from Tomas Örnberg’s Blue Five and later on, The Swedish Jazz Kings. Also in the band are Andreas Heymowski - clarinet and bassclarinet, Jens ‘Jesse’ Lindgren - trombone, Hans Hultman-Boye - piano, Göran Stachewsky - banjo, Lennart Bohm - bass and Margaretha Thalén - vocals. The scene is Stampen (The Pawnshop), the famous jazz pub in the heart of Stockholm, on a Monday night in March 1976.Perhaps not the best day in the week for jazz listening, but the place is crowded. A couple of hundred people squeezed into the small space. Everybody is concentrated on the music and especially on that little lady, whose singing and presence on the stage never fails to keep an audience spellbound. At the age of 81, Eva is probably a better jazz singer than in the '20s. Her voice is now lower pitched than in her youth, it is still strong and clear, and she swings more than ever before. Like most singers of her generation, she is also a real actress, without the pretentiousness of many “big stars”. She has a great' sense of humour and a refreshingly unsophisticated approach to everything she does. This recording can of course not give a complete picture of Eva Taylor's artistry, with her dancing on the stage and her communication with the musicians and the audience, but it captures as well as possible the music and the atmosphere on one of her most inspired nights in Stockholm. In April 1976, at the age of 74, the legendary swing saxophonist Benny Waters made a momentous appearance at the internationally famous jazzclub Stampen, often known as “The Pawnshop”, in Stockholm. This CD is a memento of this concert and a wonderful musician. After studying in the early 20´s Benny Waters went on to teach with a degree of success that can be measured by the fact that two of his pupils were Harry Carney and Johnny Hodges. Benny went on to record with a number of bands including among others Clarence Williams, King Oliver and Charlie Johnson. By the time he moved to Paris in 1952, Benny had in the preceding years been a member of many outstanding bands including Fletcher Henderson, Jimmie Lunceford, Claude Hopkins and Hot Lips Page. Following this he became a freelance soloist for the rest of his career, thus making possible the visits, 13 in all, to Scandinavia and Sweden. Lucky 13 for jazz-lovers!
Worthy of note is the fact that the pianist on this recording is the late, great and unfortunatelythe most “underrecorded” Swedish swing piano player Björn Milder, who was considered by many visiting musicians to be “world class”. And they should know! Includes: Some of these Days, Summertime, Cherokee, Sophisticated Lady, Indiana, Dark Eays, Blues Amore etc.

OPUS"A Tribute To Young Louis   " ( Bob Barnard )  €.26,00  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

A Tribute To Young Louis We are glad to present The Swedish Jazz Kings third Opus 3 album this time with one of the world's foremost interpreters of Louis Armstrong's music - Australia's jazz star no. 1: The cornet player Bob Barnard. The majority of tracks feature another jazz giant: the trombone player Roy Williams from England.
Yet, another tribute to Louis Armstrong as furthermore he had celebrated his 100th anniversary last year. Tributes will continue to be paid to Louis Armstrong regardless of when he was born. There is surely no band more qualified than The Swedish Jazz Kings to do just this, who have after all, devoted a large part of their musical lives to the preservation and portrayal of Louis´ music!
As the title suggests, the main emphasis on this album is on Louis Armstrong's early music, the time when he was at his creative peak!

OPUS"Global Percussion Network " ( Rauk)    Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:Rauk  Title:Audiophile Classics  genere:  Orchestral We are glad to present the first Opus 3 SACD-multichannel recording made in pure DSD! (Direct Stream Digital, the new format that is the basis for SACD)  Global Percussion Network is a newly formed percussion group whose music is quite different compared to what you normally associate with percussion music. The group mainly base their music on the "melodic" percussion, Marimba and Vibraphone, and are at the same time very melodic and rhythmic, with a lot of free improvisation and with flavors of jazz.  All pieces are arranged in order to take the advantage of those possibilities that SACD multichannel (surround) offers. This new technique has also been a major source of inspiration for those pieces that have been chosen for this recording. Global Percussion Network was formed 2000 by the composer and musician Anders Åstrand, one member of the duo Åstrand/Wager who recorded the quite special organ/percussion album, "Live at Vattnajökul" (CD 19802) on Opus 3 and that was recorded in Iceland 1998

OPUS"The Oskarshamn Ensemble " ( Thorvald Fredin )    Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:Thorvald Fredin Title:The Oskarshamn Ensemble    genere:  Orchestral  In this highly unusual recording, featuring the double bass as solo instrument, we hear music by the Italian composer Giovanni Bottesini and two Swedish composers - Erland von Koch and Lars-Erik Larsson. Soloist: Thorvald Fredin, is Professor of Double Bass at the Stockholm College of Music.  A breezy presentation of double bass virtuoso Bottesini's second concerto for the instrument, originally written for performance by the composer himself coupled with his Elegia, testifies the present performers' technical mastery and musical understanding of this typically 19th century composition in which no opportunity is lost, in cantelinaor runs, demonstrating the soloist's proficiency. Artist: The Erik Westberg Vocal Ensemble ,Title: A Star is Shining   genere:  Choral & Organ  The celebration of Christmas has for us all a deep and special significance requiring music, which not only induces a feeling of well-being but also reflects the majesty and glory of the occasion. This we have aimed to achieve with this recording. Here we include music which has been specially composed, including in parts improvisations, folk melodies, music from varying parts of the world and different epochs. We are glad to also have a couple of our favourite musicians on this album:  Mattias Wager on organ ("Organ Treasures" on SACD)Anders Åstrand and Daniel Saur from Global Percussion Network (also on SACD) on subtle percussion and Daniel Pettersson on key-fiddle."A Star is Shining" is a somewhat different, but still an easy-listening Christmas album, but it is not 100% focused on music that has only connection to Christmas - but with the depth and feeling that suits the time of Christmas. The album is also partly international, with a couple of English Christmas Carols, and music from USA, Germany and Denmark. With this SACD-multichannel album, we really want to transfer the cosy feeling of being in Luleå Cathedral that is located very high up north in Sweden !!

OPUS"Across the Bridge of Hope "( The Erik Westberg )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist: The Erik Westberg Vocal Ensemble Title:Across the Bridge of Hope  genere:  Choral & Organ     A choir could be said to be the ultimate example of different people working together in harmony to create a thing of beauty. The advent of the millennium and its theme-song of Hope which was sung around the world has been the inspiration behind the idea of this choral record with a difference. As you will hear, Oscar Lindberg´s "Pingst" (Pentecost) and the hymns of Otto Olsson can be heard along with the more rhythmic "Claviante Brilioso" of Tomas Jennefelt. In addition we also hear an example of the indigenous music of Lapland, "Biegga Luohte", with its barking dogs, animal calls and bird-songs. Anders Åstrand, perhaps Sweden´s most outstanding percussionists, adds an additional facet to this jewel of a record. The special story behind the title song; "Across the Bridge of Hope" The song "Across the Bridge of Hope" was during the advent of the millennium a kind of "relay" and where 8000 choristers singing the song in 310 choirs in 56 countries all around the globe - so may be you have heard this song before. When the tragic bombing in Omagh, on Ireland by IRA on Aug.15, 1998 happened, a little boy, the 12 year old Shawn Mc Laughlin happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and was killed together with 29 other people. After "The Good Friday Agreement" on April 10th, 1998, Shawn and a couple of his friends wrote a poem to express their longing for a future in peace. After the tragic bombing, this poem was read by President Mary McAleese on TV. When Erik Westberg watched the news that day and heard this poem, he was very moved and contacted his friend, the professor in composition, Jan Sandström, who was also deeply moved. It was then they realized that they had found what they had been looking for the last two years.

OPUS"Organ Treasures"( Mattias Wager )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist: Mattias Wager Title: Organ Treasures  genere:  Choral & Organ  With its diverse sonorities, the renowned 1976 Grönlund organ in the Hedvig Eleonora Church gives life to a programme of known and unknown treasures from the  organ repertoire. The most famous organ piece ever written is without doubt the Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Johann Sebastian Bach. Its challenging introductory fanfares and the spinning theme of the Fugue have with time become universal musical signals of the same dignity as the first motifs from Beethovenís ìFür Eliseî or Fifth symphony. It is therefore an intriguing musicological irony that some of the most prominent stylistical features of the work have caused musicologists to question whether Bach himself really is the composer! Could the piece be written by another member of Bachís musical circle? Regardless of the answer to this riddle Bach is universally accepted as the greatest of all composer of organ music, due to the scope and quality of his work. Organ arrangements of Bach pieces not originally intended for the instrument was a genre in itself in the Romantic period. The following three pieces are examples of various styles of adaptation. Being the most recent of the three, Maurice Durufléís arrangement of the hymn setting ìJesus bleibet meine Freudeî is the most true to the original, reflecting the new-found respect for the old masters typical of the Neo-classical school. Alexandre Guilmant has arranged the Sinfonia from Cantata 29, a piece which Bach himself has written in various versions, the others being for Violin or Lute solo. Guilmant brings to his arrangement the powerful and virtuoso French organ style. Sigfrid Karg-Elert made his arrangement of Bachís famous Air awritten-out Romantic interpretation, indicating expressive dynamics and even changing the counterpoint. César Franck is often credited with being the father of the symphonic style in French organ writing. Among his twelve major organ works, the Pièce Héroïque stands out as one of the most concentrated examples of the style. Franck was organist in the church of Ste Clotilde in Paris, where his source of inspiration was the new symphonic organ by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. Pièce héroïque, though, is written directly for the organ of the Palais du Trocadéro, built by the same master. At once ground-breaking and entertaining, Charles Ivesí îVariations on Americaî is the only major work for organ by its composer. Ives, widely regarded as the first true modernist in American music, wrote the piece at the tender age of sixteen. On the surface, the piece falls neatly into the tradition of virtuoso arrangements of patriotic songs (ìAmericaî being a song set to the same melody as ìGod save the Queenî), but the piece already reveals the typical traits of Ivesí style: daring experiments in free tonality combined with traditional structures, creating an unmistakable blend of humour and seriousness of expression. One of César Franckís successors at the organ in Ste Clotilde was Gabriel Pierné, a prolific composer but with a small output of organ music. Most frequently heard are his Trois pièces op. 29, a collection of three tasteful Romantic character pieces featuring a Prélude where a gently flowing melody line is carried by harp-like broken chords,a Cantilène where the solo Trumpet sings out in a sweet ìsong without wordsî, and a Scherzando de concert as the lively and stirring finale. Sigfrid Karg-Elert is one of the most singular personalities in organ history, through his enormous output and stylisic breadth. His use of the late Romantic musical idiom today associated with the style of the old cinema-organ is very evident in his Three New Impressions op 142, pieces that seem to be composed with an American-style cinema or theatre organ in mind. Valse Mignonne is a charming impression where dream-like fragments of sweet waltz-melodies come and go, finally to dissolve into thin air. îWidorís Toccataî is something of a brand name in organ music. This piece, actually the last movement from Charles-Marie Widorís Symphony no. 5, has become for many the ultimate processional music for big church feasts. The Toccata is built up in a way that is typical of the virtuoso French Toccata: rapid perpetuum-mobile-like movements in the hands, accompanying a majestic melody on the pedals, drawing on the full tonal resources of the organ.

OPUS"Musica Sacra "( The Erik Westberg ) Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:The Erik Westberg Vocal Ensemble  Anders Paulsson: Soprano Saxophone Mattias Wager: Organ  Title:Musica Sacra    genere:  Choral & Organ The Erik Westberg Vocal Ensemble was founded 1993 and consists of 16 voices. The members come from Norrbotten and Västerbotten in the far north of Sweden. The ensemble has successfully toured France (1994) and Brazil (1995) under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Silvia. In 1996 they performed in Finland, Iceland and even as far as Japan. They have given performances on Swedish Television and Swedish Radio. Musica Sacra is a "choral" CD with a difference. Here we have the choral sound blended with organ, soprano -saxophone and percussion. At the same time a number of musical styles or types have been incorporated including for example Latin/Jazz influenced choir music as well as Swedish folk and baroque influences.  Performing on this CD we have the internationally famous Anders Paulsson on soprano-saxophone and on organ Mattias Wager, who in 1995 won two of Europe's most prestigious competitions: "International Interpretation Competition" in St. Albans, England and the "Grand Prix dëImprovisation Pierre Cochereau" in Paris, France. Works by: Bach, Sandström, Jansson, de Morales, Olsson, Vivaldi etc.  "Spiritual peace in a troubled world - this is the recurrent theme of this CD "  This flawless disc opens with a hymn by Bach, followed by a solo by organist Mattias Wager, whom I loved. Jan Sandström's Sanctus also pleased me. I promise you a shock on cut 3, Gunnar Eriksson's arrangement of Lars Jansson's superb To the Mothers of Brazil. It is performed by the choir, the remarkable saxophonist Anders Paulsson, and percussionist Tomas Isaksson. I was won over, delighted! How can a percussion group with an African rhythm, an East Indian-accented soprano sax, and a very Occidental choir meld into such a harmonious and admirable performance. It must be heard! I love choral music, and because I do, I am demanding of singers, the conductor and even the recording environment and the sound recording. "This disc is tops from every point of view."

Artist:Omnibus Wind Ensemble Title:"Circo della vita" The Omnibus Wind Ensemble was a group belonging to the Music in Uppland county music foundation. The group came into being in 1981, and the forces developed automatically: first there was a double wind quintet, to this was added a double bass and a clarinet, and eventually there came into being the serenade group Omnibus Wind Ensemble – twelve colourful players in perfect harmony. Right from the start they committed themselves wholeheartedly to originality.In-house arrangements, commissioned works and collaboration with all sorts of rewarding people in a wide variety of musical idioms. They have worked in the traditional classical genre, but also with jazz musicians, stand-up comedians, opera singers and theatre people, constantly working hard to extend their skills and never compromising on quality. In time, the Omnibus Wind Ensemble has become one of Sweden’s most popular chamber groups. Leaving aside the freshness and confidence of their musicality, their choice of repertoire is probably one key to their popularity – often unconventional, a mixture of old and new, familiar and unfamiliar, often in versions of their own and with scope for audience contact and humour. Many pieces are played from memory at their concerts, with generous scope for flirtation – and with never a beat or note out of place!Clarinettist Lars-Erik Lidström, a skilful arranger within the group, is also an unmistakable asset.

OPUS"Music By Frank Zappa "( Omnibus Wind Ensemble  )     Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

ArtistOmnibus Wind Ensemble  Title:Music By Frank ZappaThe Omnibus Wind Ensemble's interest in Frank Zappa's music dates back to the beginning of the 1980s, almost from the very beginning. Under the motto "From Mozart to Zappa", which also became the title of their first, widely acclaimed CD under the Opus 3 label, they have had many of Frank Zappa's compositions on their repertoire over the years. The music of Frank Zappa has always defied classification, and those who have not studied it closely perhaps do not realize how much jazz and classical music it contains. (Zappa composed a percussion piece when he was only 15!) Arguably, Frank Zappa is one of this century's most interesting composers and perhaps the best kept musical secret in the USA. The Omnibus CD "Music By Frank Zappa" is a grand tour of his music - from the beautiful "Peaches En Regalia", the highly complex "Revised Music For A Low Budget Orchestra", the outstandingly humorous "Brown Shoes Don't Make It" to the jazz-bluesy introduction etc. of "Inca Roads", with all the fireworks that follow it! Also included are: How Could I Be Such A Fool, Let's Make The Water Turn Black, The Black Page No 2, No 7, Igor's Boogie, Be-Bop Tango, Alien Orifice, Dog Breath Variations, Uncle Meat and Sinister Footwear and 2nd Movement. The CD ends with a piece which was not written by Frank Zappa, namely Maurice Ravel's "Bolero" here in a big-band-influenced special arrangement inspired by Zappa's own version from 1988. Classical, Jazz or Rock!? "For a long time now, this excellent chamber orchestra from Uppsala has been presenting its own arrangements of Zappa's music. On this CD they are better than ever. Zappa's boundary-breaking music combines elements of jazz, Latin, rock and western art music with humor, irony and a wealth of imagination. And sometimes with total beauty of harmony and melody. Omnibus, combining complicated arrangements with virtuoso elegance, is able to put all the pieces together in a very attractive manner. This recording, with its perfect sound picture, should create opportunities for a wider international launch than any of the group's earlier records have had. Zappa himself would probably have been very impressed with these interpretations." (Hifi & Musik)

OPUS"The Complete Songs" ( Lars Erstrand Trio)  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

We are glad to present Lars Erstrand´s 6th Opus 3 album  a dream-project that Lars had in mind for over 15 years! To Quote Lars:-"Perhaps the most important thing I have learned in my 50 years of playing, as a vibraphonist is the awareness of the enormous quality and variety of the songs composed in what is commonly called The Great Swing Era.-For more than 30 years I had the privilege and pleasure of playing with the outstanding Swedish clarinettist Ove Lind, whose life ended at all too early an age. One of the things about Ove was his enormous repertoire, not only of the songs but also the verses, which were so very often not recorded at this time. He maintained that a song is not really complete without the verse and I, and many other musicians, really agree that he has a point.-A verse is like a prologue, where the words of the lyrics give background to the story, which is the main theme of the chorus. Musically it can be a separate entity in itself and comprise a further composition of beauty."The trio comprises, besides Lars himself, one of Sweden's absolutely best new jazz pianist, Jan Lundgren. On double bass is another of Sweden's most sought after musicians, Hans Backenroth. On drums we have Leif "Gus" Dahlberg who has been playing with Lars Erstrand on several other Opus 3 albums. As soloists we have the pleasure to present Antii Sarpila from Finland on tenor and soprano saxophone on 3 tracks, Bertil Fernqvist on electric guitar on 2 tracks and finally Lasse Törnqvist on cornet, also on 2 tracksThis is the 2nd pure Opus 3 DSD recording on Super Audio CD in multichannel/surround sound.

OPUS"The Hammond Connection " ( Kjell Öhman)   Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

In this recording Kjell has gathered some of his favourite musicians round the Hammond B3 in a selection of his favourite jazz evergreens. It is interesting to note that in recent years there has been a massive revival of the authentic Hammond B3 organ in jazz, rock and blues. The other artists taking part are world famous guitarist Rune Gustafsson, Denmark's Mads Vinding on bass, Leif "Gus" Dahlberg, drums, and last but not least, as special guest for six numbers, Arne Domnerus, alto sax! "Super Hammond! Steaming hot in every way is The Hammond Connection, featuring Hammond organ in Kjell Ohman and his friends. All of them, not least Kjell himself, seem to be in the very best of swing tempers. Some numbers also feature that master of alto sax Arne Domnerus, who just seems to go on getting better and better. His playing in Benny Carter's beautiful ballad The Favour of the Fool is in itself worth buying the record for."

Following their successful collaboration in the quintet setting from the "Two Sides" recording with Knud Jörgensen (Piano), Roland Jivelid (tenor sax), Arne Wilhelmsson (bass) and Pelle Hultén (drums), the gang returns with pieces like: There With You, Body And Soul, Too Good To Be True, T And S, The Rabbit Jumps etc. "I think Body And Soul must be Erstrand's most successful recording. In two solo choruses he builds up a firework climax which is quite brilliant. In the last eight bars the piece is rounded off with a subdued reversion to the theme. Thanks to the accompainiment maintaining the basic tempo instead of following the double tempo of the vibes, Erstrand's playing attains extra altitude."

OPUS"Live at Vatnajökull"(Mattias Wage)    Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Title:Live at Vatnajökull  Improvisations  Artist:Mattias Wager: Organ  Anders Åstrand: Percussion  genere:  Choral & Organ   If you are wondering what prompted an organist and a percusion/marimba/vibraphone player to journey  to Iceland to make a recording with improvised music and a special arrangement of Maurice Ravel´s Bolero, then perhaps the word inspiration could be the most succinct answer. It is this which gives rise to the expression "inspired performance" which can certainly be applied to this CD.  A number of contributing factors have combined to create the ambience in this recording of what is  in effect a musical journey through or over the magnificent Icelandic nature, particularly the gigantic Vatnajökull glacier which covers a number of volcanoes, and from which this CD derives its title, the cover picture was taken during a volcanic eruption in 1996.  Further sources of inspiration were derived not only from the outstanding beauty of the Hallgrims Church with its wonderful acoustics, but also the superb Klaus Flugel organ which was completed in 1992. Small wonder that Mattias and Anders were able to give the "inspired performances" heard in this recording where their outstanding musicianship has been set free to explore the myriad possibilities which are an intrinsic part of performing improvised music.  In 1995 Mattias Wager won the two most prestigious international competitions for organ music in England and France. At St. Albans in England the first prize for "inter- pretations" was succeeded by winning the Grand Prix d´Improvisation "Pierre Cochereau" in Paris, France.Anders Åstrand has played at regular intervals over the last 14 years with the world famous Swedish percussion en- semble Kroumata. As a well as playing a great deal of jazz, he leads his own free form jazz/rock-fusion group "Like One

"The listener is treated to a succesion and variety of musical jewels, all of inestimable brilliance and freshness. "The impeccably virtousic Omnibus Wind Ensemble demonstrates appealing eclecticism on their aptly titled disc. In sum this is a delightful package of well-played, enthusiastic music. The sound is also wonderful - here's an audiophile recording of exceptional transperancy and realism."  (Stereophile)

OPUS"Stenhammar ... "( Zetterqvist String Quartet   )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist: Zetterqvist String Quartet Title:  Stenhammar - Sandström - Edlund    genere: Chamber & Solo Instrumental  On this CD the three Swedish string quartets is presented which have meant the most to the Zetterqvist String Quartet over the years. They are individually very different in musical genre, but nevertheless they contain a strong common element: the intensity of the need for expression to a degree which explores the outermost limits of a string quartet - the most intimate of musical forms. In all three we are made strongly aware of deeply existential, humanistic expressive elements. Perhaps not music for light-listening, but a rich source of constantly new discoveries - who said that life is different

OPUS" Lonely Souls "( Kjell Fagéus  )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:Kjell Fagéus  Title: Lonely Souls         genere: Chamber & Solo Instrumental  musical journey with a solitary clarinet, a clarinet conveying the different characters and styles of 12 composers. It is beautiful - calm and agitated, happy and sad, introvert and extrovert - naked and revealing. "Never, surely, has Kjell Fageus played with greater expression, greater understanding and more revealing intensity. The music is Wonderful! There are eight Swedish compositions here, most of them premiered by Kjell Fageus and/or dedicated to him. Several of these Swedish works, then, are recorded here for the first time. But this excellent record also includes some of the most important works of the international clarinet repetoire. Stravinsky's three pieces from 1919. Malcom Arnold's sparkling Fantasy, the clarinet movement from Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time and Debussy's Syrinx (which was written for the flute but really works quite well on the clarinet). Go for it."

OPUS"Mozart-Brahms "( Kjell Fagéus  )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:Kjell Fagéus & The Zetterquist Quartet Title:  Mozart-Brahms    genere: Chamber & Solo Instrumental  Kjell Fageus is one of Sweden's most sensitive and perceptive clarinettists. He has already shown as much in previous recordings, and this time he has addressed the very finest chamber works in the history of music. Mozart's Clarinet Quintet in A is one of his most heavenly masterpieces, while Brahms' counterpart in B minor, Op 115, is among the ageing master's most mature and introspective creations. For the Mozart, Fageus uses his softer Basset clarinet - the instrument the quintet was probably written for. And in both cases he is accompanied with great empathy by the Zetterqvist Quartet. A fine album indeed." (Hifi & Musik)

Artist:Stockholm Guitar Trio Title:  Albeniz - Granados - Ravel - Peterson-Berger   genere:GUITAR   The Stockholm Guitar Trio really develop the potential of the conventional guitars possibilities from the point of view of tone and repetoire in a very skilful and elegant manner. The Stockholm Guitar Trio comprises three versatile and accomplished guitarists, Anders Karlsson, Jacob Henriques and Jens Kihlén who have also transcribed all of the music on this their debut CD.

OPUS"Classical Guitar "(Peder Riis   )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:Peder Riis Title:  Classical Guitar   genere:GUITAR  Peder Riis, leader of The Stockholm Guitar Quartet, is presented here in a solo recording, using a conventional classical guitar and Georg Bolin's alto and bass guitars. Works by: Bach; Suite No.2 in C-minor BWV 997, Villa Lobos; Prelude No.5, Etude No.8, Mazurka-Choro, Turina; Homage a Tarrega, Weiss; Tombeau, Chaconne, Fantasie. "You are unlikely to ever hear the so-called Lute Suite No.2 (Bach) better played than it is here, an experience itself worth the price of the disc. Tonal beauty, technical perfection and stylistic felicity are allied to an unusually fine sense of purpose in phrasing" (Classical Guitar)

OPUS"Mendelssohn ... "(Stockholm Guitar Quartet    )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:Stockholm Guitar Quartet Title:  Mendelssohn  Brahms - Debussy   genere:GUITAR    In this recording the Stockholm Guitar Quartet presents an entirely new family of instruments which they themselves have played a part in developing together with Lars Jonsson, today one of Sweden's foremost guitar makers. It is interesting to note that the Quartet remains the only guitar quartet in the world to transcribe classical music for four different guitars. "The sound is convincing in every way! In the music by Brahms and Mendelssohn, the group evokes moods which, I am convinced, are very hard to create on the piano. Take the Intermezzo Op.118 No.2, for example. Here the expression is one of utter peace and ethereal harmony, but at the same time a mounting, self-sustaining inward tension and dynamic. All this is very convincingly rendered by the Stockholm Guitar Quartet. The short waltzes from Op.39 with which the Brahms section concludes are pearls of music, quite convincingly interpreted. The last one especially is performed with wit and style. Wonderful! And then back to the ethereal state with the impressionist pieces. La fille aux cheveux de lin by Debussy is very well done. I think there is a future for combinations of three or four guitars, and especially three or more different guitars. Here we have a convincing demonstration. Rating: First Class!"

OPUS"Bach - Telemann "(Stockholm Guitar Quartet    )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:Stockholm Guitar QuartetTitle:  Bach - Telemann   genere:GUITAR    The second of the Stockholm Guitar Quartet's successful albums is devoted to Baroque music and includes transcriptions of:  Bach; Brandenburg Concerto No.6, Telemann; Violin Concerto in G Major, Frescobaldi; La Frescobalda, Cimarosa; Larghetto in C minor. "The result is in many ways both brilliant and startling. This is, quite obviously, a sensation for the guitar community. The question is how people will react outside the circle of guitar enthusiasts. Will they find this recording more original than musically justified? I don't know. Personally I belong more or less to the guitar camp and, consequently, can only observe, with great delight, that the Guitar Quartet have done it again!" (Musikrevy)

Artist:Stockholm Guitar Quartet Title:  Transcriptions    genere:GUITAR  The Guitar Quartet presents an entirely new family of instruments, consisting of four differently tuned guitars: soprano guitar, alto guitar, guitar, and bass guitar. In this internationally acclaimed recording they play Baroque, Impressionist and Spanish music in their own transcriptions. Works by: Albeniz, Bach, Debussy, Dowland, Granados, Grieg, Pachelbel and Ravel. "In a startingly musical manner, united with virtually immaculate technique, they offer the listner works by Pachelbel, Father Bach, Maurice Ravel and others. The transcriptions feel logical and clear and leave plenty of scope for both virtuoso solo playing and elegant ensemble playing. A very good performance indeed!" (Hifi & Musik)

OPUS"Andersson - Lindegren "(Stefan Lindgren)  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Artist:Stefan Lindgren Title:Andersson - Lindegren - Hägg genere:PIANO -Richard Andersson: Sonata Johan Lindegren: - Grand Sonata Jakob Adolf Hagg: Sonata On this recording, Stefan Lindgren performs three Swedish piano compositions which, incomprehensively, have been silent for decades - three absolute treasures, testifying to the stature of Swedish piano music in the 19th century. None of them has been recorded previously, and a couple of them, probably, have not been performed in public for over a century. "Stefan Lindgren has already proven himself one of Sweden's foremost pianists in a previous recording of some classics of the piano repetoire. Another of his qualities - curiosity - is demonstrated in this, his second solo recording, in which he revives three practically unknown Swedish piano sonatas of supreme quality. It is surprising that we can afford to let masterpieces remain forgotten and unplayed for a hundred years, but that is what actually happened to these sonatas. The three composers are not exactly household names, but in these three pieces they have, presumably, given their very best.In this important piano recording, Stefan Lindgren plays with love and empathy." OPUS"Autumn Shuffle "( Peder af Ugglas ) Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

Then the supreme moment is near." Starting at an early age Peder taught himself boogie-woogie on piano later turning to classical music. However the call of rock and jazz became predominant with the music of Louis Armstrong, Jan Johansson and the Rolling Stones among the main sources of his inspiration.Later the guitar became his main instrument. Nevertheless, all types of keyboards and piano continues to play a significant role in his musical productions. He has worked together with many prominent Swedish artists, including Louise Hoffsten, Anders Widmark, Stefan Sundström and Sara Isaksson, producing several of Stefan's albums and Sara's latest. He also played in the Bob Manning band for a number of yearsFor about the last ten years he has composed the music for exhibitions of the work of artists Christer Themptander and Hasse Lindroth, as well as composing music for both cinema and television films. His approach to his own music is characterized and very much influenced by impressions and experiences, atmosphere and feelings.

OPUS"Dreamsville  " ( Maria Winther)             Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

OPUS"Swingcerely Yours " ( Lars Erstrand )  Per ordine TELEFONARE/EMAIL

We have been fortunate to work with and record Lars Erstrand since 1979!The first time was an album featuring jazz violin player, Gunnar Lidberg.
Since then, we have made six albums with Lars Erstrand and where this collection album is the best from his first five Opus 3 albums recorded during 1983 – 1995.Lars Erstrand has many years been ranked as one of the three best vibraphone players in the world!  In Paris 1976, he actually played with Benny Goodman and with the members of Lars Ertsrand´s ”Benny Goodman band” - the same as on ”A Tribute to...”, but of course, without Ove Lind!

We were fortunate in having this great woman with us for a few memorable days.
