Why
are we so insistent on electrostatic speakers? Well, first of all, there’s the
question of sound quality. But a particular sound isn’t yet a wave motion of the
air; it doesn’t yet get the eardrums vibrating. But a created sound about to
come into being does the rounds of the neurons and the synapses. It dances
around loftily or stealthily in the cranial universe of the composer or the
performer. STAX earspeakers trace this sound. The method employed in this
connection has to be electrostatic, because delicate sounds must not get lost.
Delicate sounds are important elements of textural recreation. The main issue
faced by pure audio is its re-creativity capacity. The question is how to
convert the delicate opening wave patterns that determine tonal quality
faithfully into air vibrations. This is the principal merit of electrostatic
speakers. This is the only system that has the potential to recreate the most
minute nuances with complete accuracy. SR-007 MK2 is the flagship model that
aims to achieve the peak among STAX electrostatic speakers. They possess strong
drive power in respect to the diaphragm due to the provision of an area in which
there are no holes whatsoever on the outer ring of the electrodes (fixed poles)
that were completed after an extended process of design and productions of
prototypes. They succeed to the new generation units that realize a high degree
of linearity in the aperture area. After attachment to a thick insulated resin
case, they are fixed to a strong aluminum machined enclosure and shut out
unwanted vibration. The cable is designed with the most appropriate structure
for transmitting signals to the electrostatic transducer, and use is made of
STAX original cables employing high-purity PC-OCC conductors that achieve
outstanding sound quality due to their extreme thickness and low capacity. The
new product SR-007 MK2 features improvements to the connecting area between the
unit and the cable and achieves further improvements in transmission capacity
and reliability. The mechanism unique to the SR-007 series whereby the enclosure
and the ear pads rotate independently of one another makes it possible to
achieve a positioning that exactly fits the ear shape of each individual
listener. Where do the music of the spheres and the vibration of the cosmos
begin and end?Setting a section without any holes whatsoever on the perimeter of
the electrodes makes it possible to achieve a deeper and more dynamic expressive
capacity. There is strong drive power in respect to the diaphragm, and a high
degree of linearity is achieve in the opening section too.As is the case with
ordinary speaker systems, the sturdiness of the enclosure is important for

of a history of ultra-precision sound checkingIt’s not surprising that there are
many music fans and audiophiles who have never heard of the audio maker STAX nor
are they even aware of its existence. But even such people will have heard “the
work of STAX”. This is because STAX products are used widely throughout the
World by a large number of recording companies for sound-checking purposes in
almost every stage of their production process. They are used to check that the
sound has been recorded just as intended, for example by making sure that a
Stradivarius really sounds like a Stradivarius, or to make sure that no
unintended noise has found its way onto the mother disc or the stamper. This is
because there are sounds that can only be detected by the human ear and that
cannot be differentiated by a measuring device in terms of whether they are
musical sound or just plain noise. STAX devices make use of high-polymer film
which is several tens of times thinner than food wrapping. This is the diaphragm
present in STAX electrostatic earspeakers. STAX is a Japanese brand that was the
first in the world to pioneer electrostatic headphones of the condenser type,
and STAX remains to this day, virtually the only company in the world active in
this particular area. This is an earspeaker series whose high-range reproduction
capacity has been proved especially by the appearance of SACD, DVD audio and
other new-generation media. The combination that might be described as the
global standard is the series leading up to the new product SRS-3050II. The new
SRM-323II driver unit is compatible with media employing an increasingly wide
band range. Because of the way in which the power section has been strengthened,
it has outstanding playback capacity, recreating low-pitched sounds with real
presence that really underpin the music rather than constituting a mere
amorphous mass, while the flawless sounds that float above could even, if one so
wished, be analyzed in terms of their very structure. Then there’s SR-303, a
product in the earspeaker lineup that focuses especially on high sound quality.
And we are now releasing SRS-3050II, a product that presents the ideal
combination. SRS-3050II: The global standard The electrostatic type is
structured to ensure balanced operation. This means that a balance circuit is
present until the moment of conversion into air vibrations. This is the only
system that makes it possible to enjoy the sound innate to the balance system.
SRS-3050II is a system based on combination with the new SRM-323II driver unit,
which has a significantly strengthened power transformer, and it has permitted a
major expansion in dynamic range. The simple two-stage amplifying circuit
configuration with FET characterized by high sound quality and low noise at the
input stage offers sound quality fully worthy of being referred to as the global
standard.SR-303: The product of limitless experience This is the latest model in
the SR-Lambda series, which houses an elliptical unit that fits the shape of the
human ear and makes use of the same new high-polymer film diaphragm as the
SR-404 Signature. Follow-up features in respect to input signals have been
improved by brushing up the diaphragm and the cables. This is a model occupying
a position at the center of the line-up that succeeds to the smooth and
high-resolution tradition of STAX earspeakers. The rectangular unit that might
be described as the precursor of universal design sends out sounds to the outer
ear as a whole by means of parallel plane waves, and it has been designed in
such a way as to emulate as far as possible the process whereby the ear

full of emotion. The output stage of the unit has adopted a high-power dual
triode "ECC99" from Slovakia JJ Electronic that draws a lot of attention through
its high-grade vacuum tube technology and manufacturing. The overwhelming
dynamism and freshness of its dazzlingly vivid sound enhance further the
attraction of ear speaker listening pleasure.The newest hybrid type driver unit
with FET input and dual triode output, adopting pure class-A balanced
amplification circuit. Output stage employing "ECC99" high-power dual triode.
The vacuum tube from JJ Electronic, one of the best and most-advanced devices
available today, is manufactured with the assembly accuracy of ±0.02mm or less
and up to 5,000 hours of lifetime test. Especially, the "ECC99" is a high-power
dual triode developed for the driver stage of a power amplifier as well as for
the output stage of a preamplifier, and in this new driver unit the tube is used
for the output stage featuring a pure class-A, balanced amplification circuit.
Taking advantage of a dual triode enclosing two triodes inside, the HOT and COLD
signals can be amplified and output through each triode. With its high linearity
and ample power bandwidth, the unit faithfully reproduces music signals that
change dynamically.Input stage with pair-matched low noise FET Low-noise,
high-impedance discrete FETs have been employed for the input stage. While the
devices are strictly selected by STAX original way so that the HOT and COLD
parts of balanced signals are amplified in a mirror image, they are used in a
pair-matched hybrid configuration also taking the heat balance into
consideration. This enables the XLR balanced input to perform a purely balanced
transmission and amplification straight from input to output. Moreover, also the
RCA input keeps its sound purity in such ways that the GND side is simply
connected to the COLD side without using an inverting amplifier, and a
high-quality audio-grade relay serves as the three-line input selector.Power
supply with large-sized power transformer and low ripple circuit.The power
supply section supporting the pure balanced transmission/amplification circuit
has adopted a large-sized power transformer with the biggest capacity among STAX
driver units to secure an adequately wide dynamic range as well as the stable
operation even when mains voltage fluctuates.Simultaneously, low-noise, low-loss
shot key barrier diodes as well as capacitors with large capacitance are
incorporated in the rectification circuit to drastically eliminate ripples
distorting sound. Moreover, the heater power supply circuit for the "ECC99"
high-power dual triode features a right-and-left channel independent
construction to greatly improves both the S/N ratio and the channel
separation.Strictly selected components such as high sound-quality 4-gang volume
controller.The high sound quality 4-gang volume controller with double-axis
structure ideally adjusts the input level of HOT and COLD signal on both right
and left channels. Furthermore, non-magnetic audio-grade carbon film resistors
are used for the load resistance. In addition, while looking over the circuit
constant again, the unit is further brushed up in details employing, for example,
a sophisticated black aluminum front panel with hairline finish.3 pairs of input
