proud to have spent so much time doing the thing we dreamed of: Music as to be

to be successful through the years...1975 Chario Loudspeakers made his début
with a patented non-conventional speaker layout called Selective Expansion
System made of Left, Centre and Right speaker allowing us to start
psychoacoustic investigation of some still current concepts such as perceived
distance, enhanced stereo seat, diotic image stability...1980 Chario
Loudspeakers introduced a lower-than-ever crossover frequency between woofer and
tweeter, going down to 2,500 Hz, while our competitors were still assessing the
necessity to push the transition over 5,000 Hz following a well-established
common sense. But sometimes, common sense is misleading... and the invoked
psychoacoustic principles were largely misunderstood. Nowadays, low crossover

theory.1981 Chario Loudspeakers introduced two new electro-acoustic designing
principles: The Equal Loudness Envelope & The Acoustic Pivot.1983 Chario
Loudspeakers introduced a new concept for his bookshelf-speakers low frequency
response, trading off sensitivity for timbre-matching. Nowadays, long-throw/large
outer suspension small woofers are common items...1986 Chario Loudspeakers
introduced the WMT AlignmentTM, at the same time it was firstly stated the fuzzy
Overlapping Frequencies concept instead of well-defined Crossover Frequencies.
This new way of thinking forced us to design a new tweeter generation, shifting
the crossover frequency still lower to 1,300 Hz. Nowadays, the vertical energy
pattern control is a must for any well designed loudspeaker system... 1987
Chario Loudspeakers applied first to consumer speakers the NRS Loading concept.
Nowadays, in the multi-media/multi-channel era, down-firing-next-to-floor
subwoofers is a rule of thumb...1992 Chario Loudspeakers introduced first the
RLX AlignmentTM. The theory of crossed pressure phasors was firstly proposed by
B.Bauer in 1960 but Chario Loudspeakers revised the overall theory also taking
into account the counter-lateral early reflections. Nowadays, the inward tilting
of the main speaker axes at a variable angle is a standard set up...1998 Chario
Loudspeakers introduced the T38 WaveGuide the largest soft-dome tweeter ever
designed for home listening, able to break the 1,000 Hz crossover frequency
barrier.2000 Chario Loudspeakers introduced the first 7-way loudspeaker system
whose design embodied several features: all these features were implemented in
the Academy Millennium Grand which is still rated among the world's best
reference speakers for home listening.2005 Chario Loudspeakers renewed his top
line series and gave it the name Academy "S". The new flagship is a 5-way
reference performance: Serendipity, featuring the T32 Silversoft tweeter and the

Pochi concetti sono necessari
per comprendere il funzionamento del progetto Serendipity. L'idea è quella di
offrire all'ascoltatore l'illusione di "essere lì" mediante la seguente
strategia:
1. Estrarre le informazioni di ambienza normalmente contenute nelle incisioni
standard;2. Presentare le variazioni di pressione alle orecchie dell'ascoltatore
in un modo nuovo;3. Ridurre al massimo grado l'influenza negativa delle prime
riflessioni. L'immersione in un campo acustico "surround" credibile è ovviamente
il target da raggiungere... ma le leggi fisiche non possono essere ignorate.
Alcuni limiti sono connaturati con la catena audio di
ripresa/riproduzione/percezione, e persistono nostro malgrado. Un'incisione
accurata contiene una grande quantità di informazioni ambientali associate al
campo riverberato. Riflessioni di contenuto energetico intenso convogliano
informazioni circa le dimensioni della sala da ripresa e sono strettamente
legate alle sensazioni di localizzazione delle sorgenti, mentre le informazioni
di ambienza e di profondità di campo responsabili dell'effetto olografico, sono
contenute e trasportate dal campo energetico di decadimento a lungo termine.
Only
a few concepts are necessary to understand the rationale behind the Serendipity
design. We tried to give the listener a better illusion of being there in three
steps: 1. Pulling out existing ambience information from standard recordings;2.
Presenting them to the ears in a different manner never tried before;3. Reducing
to the minimum the influence of listening room boundaries. It seems compulsory
to disperse the information over a wider area to let our brain localize the
resulting multi-direction distribution of the ambience signals. This in-turn
leads to the smearing of the direct sound compromising the front sound stage.
Academy Serendipity is based on the assumption that a vertical array of sources
with different frequency bandwidth, different gain and different group delay can
act as a Distributed Source, generating at the listener’s ears some Cross-Talk
signals useful to enlarge the side perspective while keeping the correct
Localization Cues. To achieve this the Academy Serendipity design manages the
frequency distribution of acoustic energy from Floor & Ceiling, the first
reflections, by means of the proprietary WMT TM Alignment configuration and the

bass energy from the upper cabinet where most of the musical spectrum is
reproduced. The upper cabinet places the drivers higher from the ground -
controlling floor and ceiling bounce in a predictable manner. The proprietary
cross over configuration offers a unique solution to driver interaction and to
control total energy radiated. The drivers behave and merge as one through
overlapping crossover points also while controlling the desired radiation
pattern, hence early reflections are controlled in order resulting in a much
wider sound stage. Preserving the ambient information on recordings is also key

Featuring
a larger diameter woofer the Delphinus is capable of increased dynamics, which
in turn makes the front stage wider and deeper. Being of reasonable small size
it performs pretty well on a bookshelf, even though better performance can be
achieved on dedicated stands, exceeding all expectations in its category. Also

The Phoenix system is a multi-channel stereophony dedicated central speaker.
Because its primary job is to deliver a full intelligible message, both
transparency and detail were assumed as absolute design target. Nothing is
better than a small speaker for reproducing sound nuances. So we decided for a
symmetrical horizontal array of Lynx drivers. This solution let the viewers at
both sides of the “sweet spot” to wholly perceive dialogue information or
centre-line musical sources without altered timbre or fuzzy localization cues.

original transducers plus a proprietary NRS configured subwoofer. This last one
is a wellrecognized feature implemented with all Chario floor-standing
loudspeaker systems. The outstanding performance of the Premium 2000 Tower is
due to the full 3-way design that allows the front drivers to radiate a clean
acoustical wave. Because of a dedicated floor-matched subwoofer, high-excursion

featuring the proprietary Bi-Exponential Vent bass reflex technology. The
remarkable achievement doesn’t call for further comment.
SERIE HIPER
For
a long time Chario R&D Lab activities focused around the Frequency Shifting
operating principle, which translates the woofer-tweeter crossover point more
than an octave toward the left side on the frequency axis. We implemented this
original solution since 1986, developing the first HIFI 3-Way bookshelf speaker
system (WMT proprietary design) featuring an acoustical fourthorder tweeter roll
on at 1,300 Hz with a double-slope amplitude envelope for better controlling the
energy balloon. During the following years new technologies and further studies
allowed us to gradually enhance the performance of our transducers until we came
to the ultimate T38 Wave Guide, optimized for Frequency Shifting design. From
the experience of Constellation Series research programme (whose T38WG is the
major feature) we are now able to use all that knowledge to offer our customers
the Hiper mk2 Series equipped with T27 soft-dome tweeter, entirely derived from
original 38mm design. The advantages of this acoustical design technique is the
very reason of the successful Frequency Shifting synthesis concept, recognized

This
is the flagship of Hiper mk2 Series. It is equipped with Hiper 2000 mk2 original
transducers plus a proprietary NRS configured subwoofer. This last one is a
wellrecognized feature implemented with all Chario floor-standing loudspeaker
systems. The outstanding performance of the Hiper 2000 Tower mk2 is due to the
full 3-way design that allows the front drivers to radiate a clean acoustical
wave. Because of a dedicated floor-matched subwoofer, high-excursion induced
signals at very low frequencies don’t interfere with the fine structure of the
middle range, providing the listener with a detailed listening. At Chario

The
Hiper Dialogue mk2 is a multichannel dedicated central speaker, whose primary
job is to deliver the listener a full detailed and intelligible speech. Nothing
is better than a small speaker for reproducing human voice nuances. So we
decided for a symmetrical horizontal array of Hiper 1000 mk2 drivers. This is
the right way to convey a stable yet large image to side listeners at right and
left hand of the “sweet spot”, avoiding altered timbre or fuzzy localization

The need for increased dynamics at very low frequencies has forced the audio
research toward exclusive loudspeakers driven by dedicated power amplifiers.
Active subwoofers is the name given to these systems, whose job is the
reproduction of special effects of movie soundtracks (Home Theater) or the
extremely low components of musical tones. Chario Loudspeakers entrusted Hiper
SW2 with this difficult task, a powerful high performance active subwoofer
